The Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences (BTS) was pleased to present Certificates of Completion to Tsinghua University students who completed our Collaborative Education and Research Program.

To mark the occasion, BTS hosted an informal ceremony and reception on July 7, 2016. Professor Kathy Giacomini presided over the festivities.

The students have completed two years of research training as Visiting Scholars at the UCSF School of Pharmacy and Tsinghua University School of Medicine Collaborative Education and Research Program.

The honorees are:

Shumin Yang
Meiling Piao
Yao Wang
Dongju Wang
Hu Hailin

The UCSF-Tsinghua Program is primarily for third- and fourth-year Tsinghua University undergraduate pharmacy students who seek research training at UC San Francisco in pharmacology and the pharmaceutical sciences, including pharmaceutical chemistry and translational research. While at UCSF, visiting students work on a research project; write and submit a manuscript for publication or poster presentation; audit graduate courses; and attend symposia and conferences. Mentors guide students through the program.

The program began in 2013, when the School entered into a collaborative education and research agreement with Tsinghua University School of Medicine in Beijing, China. It is administered in partnership by Tsinghua University and by the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences and the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, UCSF School of Pharmacy.
